Help Defeat Federal Giveaway of Tax Money to Private Schools

(1) TELL YOUR SENATOR TO VOTE NO ON S. 1134
The Senate is scheduled to vote on S. 1134 in the next few days. This bill would allow families to pay for religious and private school tuition using federal tax subsidies.
S. 1134, the so-called 'Affordable Education Act,' would divert much needed resources away from public schools. The bill would give federal tax subsidies to families that send their children to private and religious schools. It would also disproportionately benefit the most affluent families and provide little benefit to lower- and middle-income families.
S.1134 will weaken our public schools. Instead of investing in school construction, smaller class sizes, and new technology, this bill only takes funds away from public education.
Education Secretary Riley and Treasury Secretary Summers both strongly oppose this legislation. Please urge your Senator to do the same.
