I received information tonight that the Anchorage School Board will vote on the club policy at their meeting on Monday, 10 February. This vote will decide if the Dimond High Gay/Straight Alliance will be allowed to remain an active group on campus.

Additionally, there has been a complaint by a parent concerning a book. The School Board will vote on whether this book should remain in school libraries. What is the problem with the book? The parent objects because it is the story of a teenage girl who's father is gay and has AIDS.

We need to have as many people as possible at the School Board meeting ready to testify in favor of the book as well as retaining the current School Board's open policy on school clubs.

I will find out more information tomorrow when the School District office opens and send you phone number to call in order to be on the agenda as well as giving you the time the Board will meet.

Please fax, email and call as many people as you know so we can have a big turnout in support of the students at Dimond High.
