two corrections re Anchorage:

1. The Anchorage Daily News published this correction 10/27/1996
In Tuesday's paper, a front-page story about sex education guidelines attributed a statement to the wrong person. Rick Mitcham of the Alaska Family Council told the Anchorage School Board that schools have no business teaching about homosexuality in a non-judgmental way. He said, "Homosexuality is destructive and it kills people."

In a message dated 96-11-28 11:25:49 EST, you write:

<< (*) NOTE: From daydreamer@lunatic.asylumbbs.com
The school baord meeting went on until almost one A.M. The Board agreed to hold a work session to discuss how the Equal Access Act applies to the Dimond High Gay/Straight Alliance - and how to proceed from there. The meeting will be held one hour before the regular Board meeting December 9th at 5:30 - 6:30 P.M. The Board meeting will then be held from 6:30 P.M. until midnight. Both the work session and the Board meeting will be broadcast on cable channel 43, but only the Board meeting will be open to the public.
>>

This is a mistake. I have talked to Michael (Daydreamer...) and after reviewing the tape of the meeting and verifying what I understood on the tape with School Board President Debbie Ossiander, the Work Session dealing with the Equal Access Act will be held DURING the regular school board meeting at 6:30pm on December 9. The meeting will be broadcast on television and the public WILL BE allowed to attend thw Work Session (Open Meetings Law would prevent a closed meeting regarding this subject).

Thanks. Hope this doesn't confuse the issue but I wanted to make sure people, particularly those reading your message living here, knew the correct time for the meeting. Thanks!
