4. Once and Again to Air GSA Episode
On Friday, February 1, at 9pm, ABC will air a new episode of the show Once and Again that deals with starting a Gay-Straight Alliance and other issues. Writers for the show consulted with GSA Network staff in preparation for the episode, which is called "Gay-Straight Alliance." Check it out!

Who:Queer & Questioning Youth, ages 16-18, from the Sunset District
What:A Free Filmmaking Workshop
When:Thursdays from 5-7 pm, for 16 wks starting February 4, 2002
Where:Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center on Noriega St. @ 46th
Workshop Description:
Screenwriting Participants will discover their story-telling abilities and culminate in writing a collaborative short script. We will write and have fun. Topics covered include visualizing and writing scenes, character development, story concept and structure, treatments, and screenplay formats.
Film Directing
The art of film directing involves many skills. This will cover the fundamentals of directing through hands-on exercises and culminate in directing a short group project. Topics covered include working with actors to create character and reveal subtext, blocking for the camera, camera placement and angles, coverage and shooting for the edit.
Video Production
Through practice and exercises, this will encourage participants to develop technical skills, explore elements of film language, conceptualize and produce the above-mentioned short group video. Topics covered include development of film idea, storyboarding, cinematography, lighting, sound and editing.

6. Camp Ten Trees Now Accepting Registrations and Applications
Camp Ten Trees (national camp) is now accepting registrations and applications for campers and camp volunteer staff.
The first national camp featuring one week for children of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) families and one week for LGBTQ teens is now accepting applications for campers and staff for the 2002 camp sessions (August 18-31, 2002). Camp Ten Trees is an overnight summer camp located on Lake Wenatchee in Washington State. At camp, children and youth build self-confidence and enjoy a range of summer activities in an environment which challenges homophobia and fosters diversity. Additionally, new for 2002, Camp Ten Trees will have a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for any youth ages 16-18.
