1. ++++ Make it Real at your school! ++++

Make it Real workshops train your GSA about AB 537 and how to use it to make a difference at your school.

AB 537 protects students from harassment and discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity, but many schools and students don't even know about the law.

Imagine a world where anti- LGBT slurs are considered unacceptable. Imagine a school where two girls or two guys can hold hands. Imagine a school where a boy can be feminine, a girl can be masculine. Imagine a school without hate. Imagine it, then... Make It Real.

4. Queer Latina/o Youth Conference -- Dec. 1st

FIFTH ANNUAL QUEER LATINA/O YOUTH CONFERENCE @ UCLA, December. 1st!

Online Registration is now up for the Fifth Annual Queer Latina/o Youth Conference @ UCLA, Saturday, December 1st, 2001, 9am-5pm. You can find all information, details, etc. at

http://www.studentgroups.ucla.edu/lafamilia/main.htm

The Conference theme is:
"ROMPIENDO BARRERAS Y UNIDOS EN FUERZA:
Reclaiming the health and dignity of our bodies and communities" It is sponsored by La Familia of UCLA in collaboration with BlaQue, UCLA's African-American Queer organization. According to the website:

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE THEME:
This year's theme is inspired by ongoing efforts to address the 20th anniversary of the AIDS crisis, an epidemic whose impact in the United States has been felt most severely by Latino and African-American queer communities. This 5th conference, "Rompiendo Barreras," is thus a collaborative effort with BlaQue, UCLAs African-American queer organization.

We believe that identifying and confronting barriers, both racial and informational, is necessary to improve the health and well-being of all our communities. All Queer Youth of Color are welcome!

Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay is putting together a program for LGBTQQ teens and would like your input. We are holding a one-time discussion group to brain-storm and explore what type of group would be helpful of us to offer, and your input about what services LGBTQQ youth want and need will be very important in helping us create our program.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Kathy Langsam, MFT at (510) 704-7480 extension 229 (with confidential voicemail) for more information.
