Accountability: Reports to OASOS Program Coordinator

Description of Work:
This position facilitates support group(s) and provides crises counseling/referrals for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning (GLBTQ) youth 20 years and under in Boulder County. Requires travel throughout Boulder County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts weekly and/or monthly groups in one or more of the following locations: Lafayette, Boulder, and Longmont.
• Provides crisis counseling and referrals for OASOS clients.
• Assists in community outreach.
• Keeps professional records of client demographic data.
• Submits quarterly reports on group progress and data collected.
• Assists in the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer facilitation staff.
• Under direct supervision of program coordinator, will file all necessary abuse reports with Social Services and/or police.

• Carries crisis pager part-time.
• Attends bimonthly supervision meetings.

Experience: Two years professional working experience, preferably in health or human services, with an emphasis in support group facilitation and crisis counseling OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adolescents who are at high risk of engaging in unsafe behaviors.

• Working knowledge of GLBTQ adolescent coming-out processes and related issues.
• Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers, staff, and community organizations.
• Requires basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS/STI transmission.
• Special Requirements: Must have reliable transportation readily available for business use.
