Coordinator, Safe Schools Initiative

for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and

Transgendered Students

The Boston Public School system is seeking a

dynamic individual to coordinate a new citywide

Safe Schools initiative to support GLBT students.

The Coordinator will oversee the implementation of a grant to:

collaborate with the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to provide school-based training programs for students, parents, and staff;
provide outreach and technical assistance to create and support Gay/Straight Alliances (GSAs) in 15 Boston public high schools;
assist schools in implementing BPS anti-harassment/anti-discrimination policies.

The ideal candidate will have:

a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Allied Health or related field;
community organizing experience in an urban setting;
experience working with diverse populations, including GLBT youth;
experience working in a school environment.

Temporary position through June 2000. Part- to full-time.

Flexible hours. Hourly wage negotiable based on experience.
