SAFE SCHOOLS PROGRAM FOR GAY AND LESBIAN STUDENTS TRAINING COORDINATOR
One full-time 03 consultant professional position working in the Learning
Support Services Cluster to provide leadership, training and technical
assistance to school districts and training consultants on implementation of
the Safe School Program for Gay and Lesbian Students. Activities include:
- Provide technical assistance to school districts
- Coordinate monthly meetings with SSPGLS staff, regional coordinators
and senior trainers
- Monitor statewide training contracts:
- Conduct planning with regional coordinators and program
coordinators, monitor quality of trainings.
- Respond to student complaints re: harassment and violation of Chap
76, Sec 5. Work closely with Program Quality Assurance
- Participate in efforts to link the work of the SSPGLS with other
departmental and LSS efforts and policies; including EEO, Violence
Prevention, Teen Dating Violence, and Curriculum Frameworks.
- Coordinate regional networking events with regional coordinators and
senior trainers
- Conduct presentations and school-based training on suicide and
violence prevention as needed.
- Work with other agencies directly providing school based training on
suicide and violence prevention.
- Assist in the development of requests for proposals and the
management and administration of contracts
Implement provisions of the Education Reform Act by:
- Participating in Department-sponsored or other activities in order
to support implementation of the Education Reform Act of 1993.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master's Degree or experience in related field
- Experience with violence prevention programs
- Familiarity with program evaluation methods and models.
- Experience in program design and development to meet the needs of
underserved populations
- Demonstrated ability to conduct training and technical assistance
activities for adults
- Demonstrated familiarity with equal education opportunity laws.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills in program development and coordination
- Grants management skills
COMPENSATION
Not to exceed $24.40 per hour with no benefits through 6/30/01. The
consultant is paid through a personal services contract with the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
