PROVINCETOWN
Rev. Phelps may make Halloween visit

As the town hangs ribbons and plans peace marches in preparation for an anti-gay church leader, the question has become, when will he show up.

Topeka Kansas's Rev. Fred Phelps may be arriving on Oct. 31 as opposed to Oct. 17. In a telephone conversation this week with Phelps he stated his daughter, Marge, who makes travel reservations, may have scheduled the arrival date for Halloween, when the children who are members of the Westboro Baptists Church can attend.

He also told Police Chief Robert Anthony he would not arrive Oct 17, which is during Women's Week when 3,000 lesbian tourists are expected.

Phelps and a group of about 29 protestors are planning to hold a demonstation [sic] against the school's Anit-Bias [sic] School and Community Project. The program intends to teach students about equality for all minorities.

Meanwhile community groups have organized a peace march on Oct 16, which will serve as a peaceful mode of demonstration against Phelps. Yellow ribbons to symbolize love and peace are being hung prominently as another antidote to his actions.

Otherwise town leaders are advising everyone to ignore the Westboro Baptist Church members, who seem to relish attention.
