SpeakOut, a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender speakers bureau, is offering high school and college-aged youth an opportunity to educate their peers, families, health care providers, religious communities, and teachers about the realities of their lives.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning and straight youth are invited to learn a form of public speaking used successfully for 29 years that empowers speakers to break down barriers and encourages audiences to engage in honest dialogue about homophobia. In the last two years alone, over 120 youth have completed the training, going on to speak to over 100 audiences.
SpeakOut's mission is to create a world free from homo-bi-trans-phobia and other forms of prejudice by telling the truths of our lives.
This training is made possible through the generous support of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth.
